APPLETON, Wis. (AP) – An Outagamie County man has been charged with punching an infant in the head while trying strike a woman.
Vong N. Thao of Hortonville is charged with felony child abuse and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Prosecutors say Thao swung at the woman, hitting the 2-month-old boy and then striking the woman in the left temple. The criminal complaint says the baby had swelling on the back of his head.
A message left with the public defender’s office Thursday was not immediately returned.
Thao was charged Monday. A report in The Post-Crescent of Appleton says the 21-year-old has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 10.
The child-abuse charge carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
