CANTON, N.Y. (AP) — St. Lawrence scored twice in the last six minutes to rally past Minnesota State, Mankato 4-3 in men’s college hockey on Friday.
Patrick Doherty tied the game 3-3 at 14:41 of the third period and Gunnar Hughes put the Saints (8-10-2) ahead at 15:57. St. Lawrence is 3-0-2 in its last five games.
Hughes was one of three Saints with a goal and an assist, joining Kyle Flanagan and Mark Armstrong.
The game was tied 2-2 after two periods. J.P. Lafontaine broke the tie for the Mavericks (5-15-1) at 11:14 of the third period. Lafontaine added an assist.
Matt Leitner and Johnny McInnis added goals for MSUM.
Saints goalie Matt Weninger made 11 of his 22 saves in the third period.
Austin Lee had 28 saves for the Mavericks, including 13 in the third period.
