‘Flying Vikings’ Depart For Southwest Asia

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – More than 120 airmen from Minnesota deployed Sunday morning on a mission to transport people, patients and supplies in southwest Asia.

The troops of the 934th Airlift Wing, also known as the Flying Vikings, left from the Air Reserve Station at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport at 10 a.m.

The Flying Vikings is made up of pilots, co-pilots, load masters and fuel specialists.

They deployed with three C-130 H-3 Hercules aircraft.
