EDEN PRAIRIE (WCCO) — Minnesota Vikings’ linebacker Chad Greenway is heading to his first Pro Bowl.
On Monday, the Vikings announced the South Dakota native will be replacing Chicago
Bears’ linebacker Lance Briggs, who is unable to play due to an injury.
“I’m excited to be going to the Pro Bowl, representing the Vikings and to be there with Jared. I couldn’t have done it without a lot of help and support from my teammates and coaches,” said Greenway. “Even though we didn’t have the kind of season we wanted to as far as winning games, we have guys who are proud and want to get back to the top. I’m honored to be thought of as a Pro Bowler and will make the most of the opportunity.”
Greenway has led the Vikings in tackles since the 2008 season. He recorded a personal best 174 tackles in 2011 with 13 for a loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery.
This marks the second straight year a Vikings’ linebacker has been selected to the Pro Bowl. E.J. Henderson was named last season.
