Chad Greenway Selected To Pro Bowl

EDEN PRAIRIE (WCCO) — Minnesota Vikings’ linebacker Chad Greenway is heading to his first Pro Bowl.

On Monday, the Vikings announced the South Dakota native will be replacing Chicago
Bears’ linebacker Lance Briggs, who is unable to play due to an injury.

“I’m excited to be going to the Pro Bowl, representing the Vikings and to be there with Jared. I couldn’t have done it without a lot of help and support from my teammates and coaches,” said Greenway. “Even though we didn’t have the kind of season we wanted to as far as winning games, we have guys who are proud and want to get back to the top. I’m honored to be thought of as a Pro Bowler and will make the most of the opportunity.”

Greenway has led the Vikings in tackles since the 2008 season. He recorded a personal best 174 tackles in 2011 with 13 for a loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery.

This marks the second straight year a Vikings’ linebacker has been selected to the Pro Bowl. E.J. Henderson was named last season.

Guess they’re just letting anyone into the Pro Bowl these days.

AP. really? Greenway had an All-Pro year, on a Toilet Bowl team. As Michael Strahan said about Jared Allen – it’s impressive to have a stellar year at the NFL level for any player, but to do it on a team as awful as the Vikings says even more about that player’s ability. And I would take it a step further and say that says a lot more about that player’s heart & passion for the game. Most “professional” athletes would have given up (a la Randy Moss) after the fourth game. These guys did not – their motors kept running and they kept making plays, even when noone else was.

Well done, Chad Greenway – well-deserved! Have fun and enjoy the experience!

All Pro?? Now i’m positive you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Congrat’s to Chad. On a side note, as seen in his associated picture, what purposs do those thin, little black bands just above both elbows serve? I’ve seen many other players wear them and just can’t figure out what they are used for, other than they think they look cool?

2 sacks, 0 interceptions? Sorry, you don’t deserve to go Chad. I like you and all, but you sucked this year. True, you had 154 tackles, but any linebacker should have that if you play every game.

I believe this is the first time I heard his name this season. You sure didn’t hear it very often making a tackle on the playing field. He must have been selected because the Vikes only had one player and here was an opportunity to add another, so maybe we’d watch. It’s surely not because of his play on the field. He should be embarrased to go after the season he had.
