ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Public Radio’s farewell to retiring “Midday” host Gary Eichten is sold out. But fans still have a chance to hear the recorded show on radio.

Eichten will be honored at “A Heckuva Farewell: Midday at Night” at St. Paul’s Fitzgerald Theater on Thursday night. Tickets went on sale Dec. 22 to MPR members and sold out in 24 hours.

But fans who could not buy tickets still can hear the recorded event broadcast during Eichten’s last “Midday” show at 11 a.m. Friday on all MPR News stations.

Eichten is retiring after more than 45 years with MPR’s newsroom. He will welcome former Vice President Walter Mondale to discuss current events, politics and news of the day.
