Karate Teacher Indicted For Sexual Acts With Minors

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — An Eden Prairie, Minn. karate teacher was indicted Tuesday for engaging in sexual acts with minors at a South Elgin, Ill. karate school.

According to the indictment, 43-year-old Dean Fuerstenberg took advantage of his position as an instructor and engaged in sexual acts with two female students between the ages of 13 and 18 between June 1, 2003 and Nov. 30, 2005.

Fuerstenberg was indicted Tuesday in Kane County on four counts of criminal sexual assault and six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Fuerstenberg was also indicted in 2011 in DuPage County for sexually preying on a minor. His next court appearance in that case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 29.

An instructor at the National Karate school in Minneapolis said Fuerstenberg worked there as an instructor about 20 years ago. But he said Fuerstenberg was never accused of any wrong-doing.

In fact, the Hennepin County Attorney’s office says Fuerstenberg has never been accused of, or charged with a crime while he has lived in Minnesota.

WCCO-TV contacted Fuerstenberg’s wife at their Eden Prairie home, but she did not want to talk about the allegations.

He is currently in custody in Kane County with his bail set at $750,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 29 in Dupage County, Ill.

Shouldn’t you be demanding his summary execution? For all you know, she was 14. You’re all over the place, here. Now is no time to start making exceptions.

    1. jackactionhero says:

It clearly states the age range went to 18.

That means it was consentual, as there was no report that he forced an adult to do anything.

      1. Marat says:

Actually, the complaint clearly indicates that minors were involved. And the statute for sexual assault takes factors other than the age of the victim into account when determining consent.

        1. jackactionhero says:

Yes there were minors that were victims. At no time did I discount that.

However, the fact remains that an 18 year old is not a minor.

        2. m says:

Actually Marat your statement is patently false. There are no MN state statutes that define a minor as being anything other than under the age of 18. There are certainly statutes that pertain to victims who are mentally ill or unable to legally consent, but those do not redefine the term “minor” in the language.

So what you are saying is that all our high school teachers can have sex with as many seniors as they want? Kick rocks

key word; BETWEEN the ages of 13 and 18.

    1. jackactionhero says:

Sorry, but between 13 and 18 does not mean they were all 14, 15, 16 or 17.

This is not a math riddle, son.
