MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio was named the NBA Western Conference rookie of the month for January.
The team announced the honor, which is only the team’s fourth for rookie of the month in franchise history.
Rubio has scored 11.4 points, made 8.9 assists and 2.24 steals this season so far.
In the Eastern Conference, Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving won rookie of the month honors.
Rubio and Irving were up against Detroit’s Brandon Knight, Houston’s Chandler Parsons, Miami’s Norris Cole, New Jersey’s MarShon Brooks and Phoenix’s Markieff Morris for the January honors.
