MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Travis Oleksuk scored two goals, including one with only a second left in the second period, as Minnesota Duluth came from behind to beat Minnesota State, Mankato 3-2 Friday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
The fourth-ranked Bulldogs (20-7-4, 14-6-3) surrendered the first goal to the Mavericks’ Johnny McInnis at 8:11 of the first period.
Oleksuk tied it up on the power play at 11:04 of the second period, then beat the clock to give UMD the lead before time ran out in the period.
David Grun added the game-winner in the third. That allowed the Bulldogs to withstand J.P. Lafontaine’s goal for the Mavericks (12-20-1, 8-16-1) with 29 seconds left.
Aaron Crandall made 16 saves for UMD, while Phil Cook had 24 stops for MSUM.
