Smalley's 87 Bar Closing Sunday, Getting New Management
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Smalley's 87, a popular downtown Minneapolis bar for Minnesota Twins fans before games, confirmed Friday that it will be closing its doors on Sunday.
Officials with the bar said they will be closed for two weeks while they undergo a change both in management and their name. The bar is scheduled to reopen March 1 under the name "The Alley Sports Tavern."
Current employees of Smalley's 87 can reapply for their jobs at the new bar. A bar manager didn't say what all is changing at the bar, but that there are some indoor and outdoor renovations that will be taking place.
Smalley's 87 was named after former Twins star Roy Smalley, who played on the 1987 World Series championship team.
