ND Flight Was Canceled Due To Drunk Attendant

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A police report says a drunk flight attendant was the reason for the canceling of a weekend Grand Forks-to-Minneapolis flight.

Police have turned their report over to the airline because it is not a criminal matter. Pinnacle Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration both are investigating.

The flight attendant was identified as a 51-year-old woman from a Twin Cities suburb. She was taken off the plane when it flew in Sunday from Minneapolis. The return flight was canceled and the 30 passengers placed on later flights.

Police say the woman’s blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit for driving in North Dakota. Pinnacle spokesman Joe Williams says the flight attendant has been taken off duty.

Pinnacle flies connecting flights for Delta.

I’d be drunk if I had to do that job.

  • Kyle

I’d be drunk if I had her on board even near me …. and I don’t even drink lol

this is a friggen puddle hopper. What is that flight from Grand Rapids to Minneapolis, an hour maybe? And they can not fly because one flight attendent is drunk. What a joke, on that small plane if it is going to crash it is not like the flight attendent can do anything that a co-pilot can not. They should have benched her and flew the damned plane. Now 30 people were inconvienced and she will end up with a letter on her record and mandatory treatment.

Please expound to us with your infinite wisdom on unions.

      • @ Just Curious

It’s obvious “Just Curious” has not worked around unions. I have been told a number of times by railroad union employees, from various railroads, that you can show up drunk for work and within a week or so, your back on the job with treatment.

You almost have to commit a crime before your off the clock for good!

This is sad. Sad for the woman (Strib names her), sad for her family and a huge inconvenience for the passengers and airline. I’m no rocket scientist but she must’ve been really wasted the night before or else was “in the cups”, so to speak, in the air. I, for one, .hope she gets treatment if she needs it & that she DOESN’T lose her job. It wasn’t like she was flying the damn plane. I know she has safety responsibilities, but c’mon. A 55 min. flight?

  • KM

You all are wrong. Former Pinnacle employees. Drunk on the job=instant termination. There is no “treatment.” They will get her back to base and then promply kick her out the door.
