St. Cloud St. Beats Minn. Duluth 2-1
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Travis Novak's goal at 6:51 of the second period was the game-winner as St. Cloud State beat Minnesota Duluth 2-1 on Friday, keeping the Bulldogs from tying first-place Minnesota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
UMD (22-8-5, 17-6-4) can earn a tie for the McNaughton Cup with a win on Saturday and a Minnesota loss. But the Bulldogs have to settle for the second seed.
Brooks Bertsch scored St. Cloud State's first goal and Novak made it 2-0.
Keegan Fleherty had the Bulldogs' only goal midway through the third period.
Mike Lee had 35 saves for St. Cloud State (15-16-4, 12-12-3).
