NORWOOD-YOUNG AMERICA, Minn. (WCCO) – The State Patrol says a pedestrian was killed while standing in the right lane of a road in Carver County Thursday morning.

The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near County Road 33 and Highway 212 in Norwood Young America, Minn. at about 7 a.m.

The State Patrol reported the pedestrian was struck by a semi truck being driven by a 55-year-old man.

The victim was, according to the patrol, 17-year-old Andrew Mulville of Norwood Young America.

The patrol said Mulville wrapped himself in a blanket before standing in the right lane of the road.

This is a very heartbreaking story. I am a local commuter and am 1 of many commuters who ended up driving through the scene before we knew it was an accident scene. I am as I am sure all the others who drove by are – extremely saddened. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends as well as the truck driver and his family as he will be affected by this horrible accident.

I also drove by right after and saw the boy and am still shaken. I am just so sad for the family and the truck driver. I also can’t beileve that the police didn’t make some sort of an effort to hide what happened from cars driving by. It will be a long time before the images I saw this morning go away.

I live in Norwood, and this is the second kid from the central high school to commit suicide in less than a moth. I would like to see them do something about all the bully’s at this school that walk down the streets in town insulting both other children and adults.

You live in Norwood? Then you’d know that the first suicide was 1-22-12 and the second was 3-22-12. That’s a little more than ‘less than a month.’ I’d appreciate if you would stop making Norwood sound like we are full of bullies, because you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Both of those boys were soooo loved. I don’t think you have any idea what it’s like to hurt like those boys were hurting. I don’t really think it matters that you live in Norwood, you don’t know ANYTHING about that highschool. The pain we are all feeling, we all loved those boys and we didn’t want anything to happen to them.

I was friends with both of the kids who killed themselves recently and neither of their deaths were brought on by bullying. Actually the parents at central put together a petition to get Andrew and his brother kicked out of school because they cheered for a basketball team other than their high school’s. Can someone tell me how messed up that is? Grow the f*** up.

I am so sorry for your loss!! I can’t even imagine your grief! But I also want to say I am sorry for the individual driving the truck. I am sure this will weigh on his/her heart for a long time even though there was nothing they could do.

This is very tragic. My heart sank when I heard of this news. My consolences go out to the family and friends of the boy and the driver as well as the community. So sad, keep your heads held high Norwood High School students.

I know the Mulville family, but didn’t know Andrew much at all. They are a very loving family. They will all be in my thoughts and prayers!!

I will not believe that some one is in theri right mind when they kill themselves.i believe they are mentally ill when they do this..That is so sad and wishing they could have gotten the help they needed before taken this drastic step.I will pray for there families.
