MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Junior guard Beau Nelson scored 21 points, Cory Speer added 18, and Plainview-Elgin-Millville beat Litchfield 55-39 to win the Class 2A championship on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (27-6) went on a 14-0 run midway through the second half to pull away and win their first state title in six tournament appearances.
Zach Kinny scored 11 points to lead Litchfield (26-5), which previously won titles in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
After leading 24-20 at halftime, the Bulldogs fell behind 31-30 midway through the second half. A 3-pointer by Speer with 10:19 left ignited Plainview’s run and put the Bulldogs ahead for good.
