DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A 12-year-old Davenport boy wasn’t injured but faces several charges after stealing a neighbor’s SUV, driving it into a utility pole, and down a one-way street the wrong way.
The Quad-City Times in Davenport reports that the boy has been charged with operating without owner’s consent. In addition, police Lt. Jeff Bladel says four traffic charges have been filed including violating a stop sign, having no driver’s license, leaving the scene of an accident and losing control of the vehicle.
The Mercury Mountaineer was taken Tuesday evening. Police responded to a call of a reckless driver at 6:30 p.m. The vehicle has an undetermined amount of damage.
The boy’s name wasn’t released.
