Minn. House Authorizes Beer At 'U' Football Games

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota House has passed a bill that would allow beer to be sold at TCF Bank Stadium.

The measure was included in a larger liquor policy bill the House passed in a 107-16 vote on Friday. The Senate passed a similar bill earlier this week and it now heads to conference committee.

The bill would allow alcohol sales at the stadium if they are "convenient" to the general public at the facility. Current law requires the stadium to make alcohol available to at least one-third of the stadium, but its ambiguity has result in alcohol not being sold at all.

The school's Board of Regents initially wanted to limit alcohol to luxury suites, but a university spokesman says the board supports the change.
