Police: Woman Who Died Trying To Cross Street ID’d

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An elderly woman died in Apple Valley Friday morning after a car hit her as she tried to cross the street, authorities say.

The incident happened on Pilot Knob Road, just south of County Road 42, at 6:30 a.m., police say. The woman was discovered dead when police responded.

The victim has been identified as 72-year-old Co T. Tran of Apple Valley.

The car’s driver remained at the scene, police say. Police believe darkness was a contributing factor in what they call an accident.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in a reconstruction of the accident.
