Police: Woman Who Died Trying To Cross Street ID’d

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An elderly woman died in Apple Valley Friday morning after a car hit her as she tried to cross the street, authorities say.

The incident happened on Pilot Knob Road, just south of County Road 42, at 6:30 a.m., police say. The woman was discovered dead when police responded.

The victim has been identified as 72-year-old Co T. Tran of Apple Valley.

The car’s driver remained at the scene, police say. Police believe darkness was a contributing factor in what they call an accident.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in a reconstruction of the accident.

“Don’t cross the street in the middle, in the middle, in the middle, in the middle, in the middle of the block. Teach your eyes to look up; teach your ears to hear. Walk down to the corner where the coast is clear.”

    And be specific, like JAQ.
