MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler has sent an email to students reminding them of a “zero tolerance” policy toward disruptive behavior and property damage, a warning to keep the celebration clean in case the Gophers win the NCAA hockey championship this weekend.

Violence broke out on campus on streets in the Dinkytown neighborhood, resulting in more than $100,000 worth of damage and criminal charges for several people involved, after Minnesota won titles in 2002 and 2003.

University officials, university police and Minneapolis police are coordinating preparation for this weekend’s games.

The Gophers play Boston College in the national semifinals in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday night, and if they win they’ll play for the championship on Saturday night.

Consequence for violating the school’s student conduct code can include expulsion.

Why? It’s just college hockey. No one really cares! The sport is so obsolete, there’s like 60 D-1 college hockey programs out there and most of those shouldn’t be at that level anyways, but they need to fill out the bracket somehow.
