WOODBURY (WCCO) — A woman and her two children are in the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Woodbury Monday, according to police.
At noon, the mother and her 2-year-old daughter and 4-year-old boy were struck by a vehicle at Radio Drive and Central Park Place. They were taken to Regions Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, but the injuries aren’t considered life threatening, police said.
“The light had just turned green, and the pedestrians were crossing and the other car was making a turn. The speeds? That’s still under investigation,” Police Commander Jay Alberio said.

The victims had the right of way while crossing Radio Drive at the time of the accident. Investigators aren’t sure why the female driver did not see them. The driver is being questioned.
Alberio says the driver is an 81-year-old Woodbury resident. He says they’re still investigating the cause of the accident, and whether or not the woman was on her phone.
Alberio says the injured woman and children were on their way to the library.
“We don’t know for sure but we think she was crossing to go to the library, which is across from the police department. The accident happened right in front of the police department so our response was pretty quick,” he said.
