Cyclist Killed In East Bethel

EAST BETHEL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A bicyclist was struck and killed by a 25-year-old driver in East Bethel, Minn. Tuesday evening.

The bicyclist, a 42-year-old man, was struck at the intersection of Viking Boulevard Northeast and Breezy Point Drive Northeast.

The bicyclist was apparently trying to cross Viking Boulevard -- also known as Anoka County Road 22 -- when he was struck by a car.

He was airlifted to the emergency room at Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was not identified by name. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will release his identity later.

The driver was described as cooperative by authorities. No arrests were made and the investigation continues.
