BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — Frequent flyers are choosing MSP as the best airport in the US. That’s according to a new ranking from Travel and Leisure Magazine.

The magazine says Minneapolis-St. Paul International “may be the cheeriest and most welcoming airport in the nation.”

Airport spokesman Pat Hogan says such a ranking is huge.

“There should be some bragging rights,” said Hogan. “It’s something that we can tout to airlines when we go and visit them and try to get them to begin service at MSP.”

The ranking was based on reader input.

Travel and Leisure cites the airport’s shopping and dining selections, and ease of check-in and security.  The airport also gets high marks for cleanliness, baggage handling and location.

The only area where Minneapolis-St. Paul lacked was in wifi accessibility, but Hogan said they’re working on that.
