RED WING, Minn. (WCCO) – Police say they have arrested three people after an armed robbery at a Walmart store in Red Wing early Sunday morning.

According to police, a man with a handgun demanded money from a clerk at the store on the 200 block of Tyler Road just after midnight.

The man left with an undetermined amount of cash and was seen running across the parking lot.

Authorities said a Goodhue County sheriff’s deputy saw a vehicle speeding away from the area and tried to stop it. That vehicle was later found abandoned in a field.

There was a handgun found inside the vehicle.

Two men were arrested near the area where the vehicle was found. Police said they had a backpack with them containing money.

A third man was later arrested.

None of the arrested men have been identified. All were in their early 20s.
