MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say three people have been hospitalized after a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 35E in Lino Lakes.

The crash, which happened at about 1:29 p.m. on southbound 35E at Main Street, closed both directions of 35E from County Road 14 to the Forest Lake split. The Minnesota State Patrol said the head-on crash happened near a construction zone.

Lt. Eric Roeske with the Minnesota State Patrol said four vehicles were involved. A southbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with northbound vehicles. Roeske said three people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Two were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Roeske said the crash was cleared just after 4:20 p.m. and the freeway is back open for traffic. The accident is under investigation.
