MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 25-year-old New Richmond, Wis. man was killed Tuesday night when his tractor rolled over and trapped him, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities were called to the scene at about 7:27 p.m. near the intersection of 240th Street and 4th Avenue in Farmington, which is located in southwest Polk County. When authorities arrived, they discovered that a farm tractor had rolled over, trapping the man underneath it.

Polk County Sheriff’s deputies declared the man dead at the scene. He was identified as James Niedermire.

An investigation showed the accident happened when he was plowing a farm field near where the rollover occurred. He was plowing near a ditch line when the tractor got stuck. In efforts to free the tractor and the plow, it rolled over.
