ST. CLOUD (WCCO) — A reported “weapon” that caused a lockdown at a St. Cloud State University building turned out to be a tool for an educational project, according to police.
On Monday at 7:43 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Engineering and Computing Center building, located on 910 3rd Ave. S., on the report of a suspicious man who possibly had a weapon in his pocket.
Officers arrived and secured the building in a lockdown status for approximately 15 minutes until the man was located.
Police say the man, who is a student, was located in a different academic building. The item in his pocket was determined to be a tool for an educational project he was working on. He returned to class and the lockdown was canceled.
There will be no criminal charges in this matter.
