MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – You couldn’t pay Marty Nelson to coach baseball.
Literally, you can’t, because he’s the West Lutheran High School baseball team’s head coach – as a volunteer.
He started coaching his kids, but they’re long gone. He stuck around because of his passion for the game and the kind of people it brings together.
“I can’t say enough good nice things about all the men I’ve had for eight years, because they’re all tremendously nice young men,” he said. “And they’re good baseball players.”
West Lutheran is currently 11-1 on the year.
