FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) — A man who pleaded no contest to seventh-offense drunken driving in Fond du Lac County has been sentenced to the maximum five years in prison.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old John C. Baker was arrested in February 2011, about three weeks after he was released from prison for his sixth conviction of driving while intoxicated.

The criminal complaint says Baker’s blood-alcohol level was 0.252 percent, more than three times the legal limit. His driver’s license was revoked at the time, and police say he had an open can of beer in the car that was more than half-full.

In a statement Friday, district attorney Daniel Kaminsky says it was remarkable that Baker hadn’t yet injured himself or others.

A message left with public defender Laurel Munger was not immediately returned.
