MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 1-year-old child is in critical condition at a hospital and three others suffered minor injuries after a one car crash near Woodbury Monday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities said the crash happened at about 4:24 p.m. Monday on southbound 494 at Valley Creek Road. Eric Roeske with the State Patrol said a 2001 Ford Windstar swerved to the right shoulder of the interstate, over-corrected, crossed several lanes of traffic and struck a median wall head-on.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old from Cottage Grove, suffered minor injuries in the crash. A 1-year-old child was seriously injured, and two other small children suffered minor injuries.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the cause of the crash is still under investigation. They are being assisted by the Woodbury Department of Public Safety and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
