Edina Company Giving Veterans A Chance

EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) -- With all the service members coming back from war without jobs, efforts are underway to help them.

A Minnesota company, ReCon Robotics of Edina, spoke at a senate meeting in Washington Wednesday.

More than a third of the company's employees have military backgrounds. We talked with Sen. Amy Klobuchar and one of the heads of ReCon from Washington.

"First of all we have to give soldiers more credit for the skills that they learn when they're overseas," said Klobuchar.

"Members of the military bring to us a ready-made skill set that's directly transferrable from what they've done in the military to our civilian business," said Patrick McKinney, COO of ReCon.

The meeting was part of a larger educational effort, trying to get employers to think about how veterans can help their business.
