MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police are warning motorists to buckle up as the “Click It or Ticket” campaign will be back up and running next Monday.

The campaign, which helps ramp up the usage of seat belts among Minnesota drivers, will last until June 7. About 400 Minnesota law enforcement agencies will team up with 10,000 agencies across the nation to enforce seat belt compliance to limit and prevent deaths and injuries on the road.

Authorities say more than 400 unbelted motorists have been killed in the last three years in Minnesota crashes. That accounts for 43 percent of all fatal crashes over that time.

University of Minnesota Police are combining with Minneapolis Police in the campaign.
