BEMIDJI (WCCO) – The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a cross burning in Bemidji that happened last Friday.
On May 25 at 12:40 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a burning cross in the reporting party’s yard, located in Northern Township in Bemidji.
The victim told police a single suspect fled on foot from the area at the time of the cross burning.
Deputies found a racist message and other racist artifacts on the cross.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case as a bias crime.
