BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (WCCO) – Police say a man was shot to death in Brooklyn Center Thursday night after he was seen carrying a rifle down a residential street.

The incident happened around 8:32 p.m. on the 5300 block of Emerson Avenue North. Brooklyn Center police responded to an adult male walking down the street carrying a rifle with a scope.

When the first officer arrived on the scene, the officer observed that the man was yielding a rifle. As the officer approached the man, the officer was forced to shoot the man, who died at the scene. No other people were injured in the incident.
