CLEVELAND (AP) — Twins pitcher Carl Pavano will return to Minneapolis on Sunday to have an MRI on his sore right shoulder.
Pavano is 2-5 with a 6.00 ERA in 11 starts. He allowed seven runs and nine hits in 3 2-3 innings against Cleveland on Friday, his shortest outing of the season. Pavano is 0-3 with an 8.25 ERA over his last five outings and hasn’t won since May 4.
Pavano, 36, has been bothered by soreness in the shoulder for most of the season. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said the decision on whether Pavano will make his scheduled start on Wednesday won’t be be made until the results of the tests are known.
