ROCHESTER, Wis. (AP) — Mayo Clinic is expanding its territory.
The Rochester-based Mayo says it’s reached a tentative deal to acquire Fairview Red Wing Health Services.
Details of the acquisition must still be finalized, but, Mayo expects to assume operation of Fairview by July 1.
Fairview Red Wing CEO Scott Wordelman says discussions have focused on the best way to provide comprehensive care to the communities around Red Wing. He says aligning the regional health care system with Mayo Clinic is the best way to do that.
Mayo and Fairview Red Wing have a long relationship of working together. Doctors often move back and forth, particularly between Red Wing and Mayo’s facilities in Lake City and Cannon Falls.
No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
