NEW YORK CITY (WCCO) - Two Minnesota men with an odd hobby have now made history.

Brett Carow and Sam Hennemann broke the Guinness World Record for “longest marathon playing a board game” on Saturday.

The game was Strat-O-Matic, a predecessor to modern Fantasy Baseball.

The friends started their marathon session Thursday morning in New York City.
They officially broke the record on Saturday afternoon, after playing for 53 hours and 59 minutes straight.

“I’m just really tired. I’m glad that we made out. We set this goal out to accomplish this and we’re both really competitive people,” said Hennemann. “We knew that we’d be able to drive each other. It’s just a great sense of accomplishment to have done this.”

Sam Hennemann said the hours between 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. were the worst for him both days, because he couldn’t “think straight.”
