LRT Construction Creates Night Road Closures On Thursday, Friday
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Beginning late Thursday, June 21, motorists in the eastern metro area should expect delays as closures take place inside the I-35E/I-94 Capitol Interchange in St. Paul.
Both directions of both roadways may be reduced to a single lane from 10 p.m. on June 21 to 12:01 a.m. on Friday, June 22.
Then, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday, both directions of I-35E will be closed between 11th Street East and 10th Street East/Wacouta Street exits. Access to eastbound I-94 and northbound I-35E will be available via 11th Street. These detours will be posted.
Both roadways will reopen by 5 a.m. on Friday, June 22.
The closures are needed as Central Corridor LRT crews continue work on the Cedar Street transit bridge spanning I-35E and I-94.
In addition, Washington Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis will be closed this weekend until 5 a.m. on Monday. After the closure, traffic on the bridge will be in its final configuration with a lane of traffic on each side.
