MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — When we asked for your help finding the best record store in Minnesota, it was kind of a no-brainer.

There aren’t a ton of these places left, and there certainly aren’t many as legendary as the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis.

“The people who work here, eat, sleep and breathe music,” said retail music manager Bob Fuchs. “I think the reason we’re still around is because this community supports arts like almost no other community in this country.”

The Electric Fetus has been in Minneapolis for 44 years, and Chuck Young’s been shopping here for 35 of them.

“In comparison to stores I’ve been to in Austin, Texas, Kansas City and Sacramento — this store is pretty top notch,” Young said.

If searching for a certain album, set aside some time as the Electric Fetus is spacious.

“You get people who are lost in here for two to three hours at a time, easily, if they’re not focused on their list,” Fuchs said.
