The 37-year-old sedan driver had critical injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and airlifted to Essentia Hospital Duluth.
The driver of the van was not injured, but his passenger, who is his 65-year-old wife, was seriously injured. She was taken in an ambulance to a local hospital and later airlifted to the Essentia Duluth Hospital. As of Monday, she was in stable condition.
There was no indication that the sedan occupants were wearing seat belts. Only the driver side airbag deployed, the Sheriff’s Office said.
