MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Home owners and gardeners are battling the invasion of Japanese beetles.
“As it’s warmed up this last week, and continuing, the beetles have really taken off,” said Sonja Anderson, of the Gertens Greenhouses & Garden Center. “It has been a few weeks since they arrived — they arrived earlier this year. People are very anxious — their trees are getting completely chewed up, some vegetables and some flowers.”
The best way to fight back is with Bonide Beetle Killer as it kills immediately.
A cheap way to fight the Japanese beetles is collecting the bugs and putting them in a bucket of soapy water.
But every beetle missed can drop up to 60 eggs and then the cycle begins again.
