MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Those in the North Metro will be saving some extra cash starting next month.
Trips on the Northstar Commuter Rail will be going down by $1 starting Aug. 1.
That means the most expensive trip, from Big Lake to Minneapolis, will cost $6 each way.
Trips from Elk River, Anoka and Coon Rapids will also go down by $1.
Metro Transit is hoping the change in fares will attract more riders to the train.
