DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO) — Friends Mikinzie Schilling and Nate Powell were swimming with 12-year-old Mia Ojanen by the ship canal pier in Duluth.

The waves were about 4-feet-tall.

While Schilling and Powell were able to climb the ladder on the pier, but Ojanen became distressed and yelled to her friends that she was too tired to save herself.

Her friends called 911 for help.

Ojanen was shaken and worn out, but not injured, as rescue teams pulled her out.
