MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 68-year-old man drowned Sunday after attempting to swim to shore on Moose Lake.
The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from someone at the Virgin Timbers Resort around 11:13 a.m. to report the possible drowning.
Officials responded and recovered the body of Thomas McNally, of Menasha, Wis. around 1 p.m. McNally was reportedly on a pontoon boat with his family when he decided to swim to shore near the Virgin Timbers Resort, where he and his family were staying on vacation.
McNally began swimming and was approximately 100 yards from shore when he began having complications and was unable to stay afloat.
