Police Warn Of Robberies In Corcoran, Powderhorn

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are warning Minneapolis residents that there has been an increase in robberies in certain neighborhoods over the course of the last month.

According to police, the spike in robberies has been happening in the city's 3rd precinct, more specifically in the Central, Corcoran and Powderhorn neighborhoods.

Police say that some of the cases involved a weapon, and in most cases, cash, smartphones, jewelry and credit cards have been taken from the victims.

The majority of the robberies have taken place between 10 p.m. and midnight, police said, and authorities are looking into the possibility that there have been patterns in the robberies.

Police said one of the robberies have been happening after a group followed someone from the light rail, another after a man jumped out of his car and snatched a necklace from the victim's neck.

Police said they have made an arrest in connection with a robbery or robberies, and are still investigating others.
