MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A portion of the Mississippi River near La Crosse, Wis., has been closed Thursday by the U.S. Coast Guard for dredging operations after barges ran aground.
The upper Mississippi River has been closed to all commercial traffic at mile marker 688. The waterway is closed so that the Army Corps of Engineers can safely conduct dredging operations.
The Coast Guard urges mariners to monitor VHF-FM channels 16 and 22 for any changes to the closure.
