HUDSON, Wis. (WCCO) — Hudson Police are investigating after the Freedom Value Center was robbed by a lone individual with a gun.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at 5:24 a.m. Sunday to the Freedom Value Center at 1917 Coulee Road in Hudson. Upon arrival, they discovered that a man, approximately 5-foot-6 and in his mid-20s had entered the Freedom Value Center and demanded money.

The man displayed a black handgun and left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was described as wearing a white “motorcycle” jacket with a blue bandana across his face.

While responding to the location, Hudson Police officers spotted a man matching the description. He was riding a motorcycle at a very high rate of speed and was heading into Minnesota on Interstate 94.

When officers attempted to pull the man over, he fled. A short chase ensued and the man was eventually taken into custody. He was identified as 28-year-old Jason Steven Kearns, of Bay City, Wis.

Officers recovered a Freedom Value Center bag with cash inside and a BB gun, believed to be used in the armed robbery.

They learned the motorcycle the suspect was operating was stolen out of Inver Grove Heights on July 31.

The investigation continues.
