Mpls Police Looking To Identify Weekend Murder Witness

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis Police say they are looking to identify and locate a possible witness to Saturday's murder on the city's south side.

On Saturday, officers responded to a call of shots fired around 8:45 p.m. on the 2200 block of 5th Avenue South. As officers were making their way to the scene, it was learned that a shooting victim (a man who looked to be in his 30s) was in the intersection of 22nd Street East and Portland Avenue South, police said.

The victim was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died just before 9:30 p.m. Police did not give his identity.

An investigation showed that the shooting happened in an apartment hallway of a building on the 2200 block of 5th Avenue South.

Investigators learned that a woman was seen fleeing the building around the time of the shooting, police say.

The woman is described as being in her early 20s, slender and with shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a pink top at the time of the shooting.
