MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis Police have identified the man found shot to death on the city’s south side last Saturday.

Police said officers responded to a call of shots fired around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 18. The shooting happened on the 2200 block of 5th Avenue South.

Investigators found a man in the intersection of 22nd Street East and Portland Avenue South. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, but died a short time after.

On Tuesday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the man as 30-year-old Michael Wesley Jones Jr. of Minneapolis.

Investigators say the shooting happened in the common hallway of an apartment building on the 2200 block of 5th Avenue South.
