MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis Police have identified the man found shot to death on the city’s south side last Saturday.
Police said officers responded to a call of shots fired around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 18. The shooting happened on the 2200 block of 5th Avenue South.
Investigators found a man in the intersection of 22nd Street East and Portland Avenue South. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, but died a short time after.
On Tuesday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the man as 30-year-old Michael Wesley Jones Jr. of Minneapolis.
Investigators say the shooting happened in the common hallway of an apartment building on the 2200 block of 5th Avenue South.
On Monday, officers said they were seeking a possible witness to the crime. Investigators learned that a woman was seen fleeing the building around the time of the shooting. The woman is described as being in her early 20s, slender and with shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a pink top at the time of the shooting.
