MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 50-year-old man is dead after being struck by a large tree that had fallen from a logging boom.

Police say the man, from Benedict, Minn., was transported to the Cass Lake Indian Health Services, where he was pronounced dead. The incident occurred around 2:51 p.m. Tuesday in Pike Bay Township, south of the Nary Road.

The victim’s name is being withheld, pending family notification.
