MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The U.S. Special Operations Command are conducting urban-environment training in Minneapolis airspace until the beginning of September.
The training has been going on since August 19, according to the operations command, but will begin to be more visible to local residents next week.
Beginning August 26, the training exercises will involve helicopters — including Black Hawks — that may be low-flying between 7 p.m. and midnight that week.
The operations command made an announcement about the training in order to curb potential calls to 911.
The flights have been run through local authorities and the Federal Aviation Administration, and exact training locations were not disclosed so as to discourage crowds from gathering to watch.
