Minn. House Takes No Action Against Gauthier

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Republican-controlled Minnesota House has adjourned without taking action against a Democratic member involved in a rest-stop sexual encounter with a 17-year-old boy.

GOP House Speaker Kurt Zellers said Friday that the actions of Rep. Kerry Gauthier were "egregious" but there wasn't time in the short special session for a full process on the ethics of his conduct.

The Duluth Democrat skipped the special session after dropping his re-election bid on Wednesday.

Zellers says Gauthier's absence shows that he isn't fit for his office and should resign immediately. Zellers says Gauthier brought "disrepute and a lot of dishonor" on the House.

Gauthier admitted having oral sex with the boy on July 22 after advertising on Craigslist for "no strings attached" sex.
