RICHFIELD, Minn. (WCCO) – A semi truck driver died Friday evening after a car hit him while he was looking at a tire on southbound 35W in Richfield, the State Patrol said.

The incident happened near 66th Street shortly after 7 p.m. when 51-year-old Hamed Nahi Alsaady, of Fridley, was on the right shoulder, looking at a blown tire on his trailer. A car then drifted right, striking the semi and Alsaady.

He died at the scene.

Joselyn Racine, 21, of St. Paul, was driving the car, a 1997 Dodge Stratus, the patrol said. Racine suffered minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation. Two lanes of 35W were closed after the incident.
